Givoogle Help us raise 10,000 for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure

Update: October 8, 2009

Hi everybody,

When we first came up with the idea for Givoogle, our logic was as follows:

Hey, a lot of people use Blackle.com, the "energy saving search." But new studies show it doesn't really save energy. And the guy who made it is profiting handsomely.

Why don't we do something similar. What if we created a search that's a little different. Like Blackle, it will use Google search technology. But we'll put up a banner ad and donate all of the profits to charity!

We chose a large, well-known, well-respected cancer charity. Our plan was to make this as simple and transparent as possible: the payments from advertisers would go straight to the cancer charity.

Unfortunately, because the cancer charity is large, it means they take longer to make decisions.

They love what we're doing, but for months we've been going back and forth with their legal team to get their official approval. It's not easy. While we continue this process of getting to contract, we've been asked to remove their name from the site. We may have to change our name.

Anyway, we thought this was a good time for a fundraising update. Since Givoogle's launch three months ago, we have raised - drumroll please - $3,326.89!

If you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you. Send us an email - givoogle at gmail.com

Thank you, everybody, for your continued support of the Givoogle idea!
